1.Who operates TipDivide
TipDivide is a tip calculator and bill splitter app, operated by Lucas Milhan, an individual, hereafter referred to as "we" or "the developer." This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what rights you have over it.
2.Data we collect
TipDivide does not require you to sign in or create an account. The data involved falls into these categories:
| Category | What it includes | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| App usage data | Bill and tip preferences, split history, and related content | On your device only — not synced to any cloud storage or backend |
| Crash reports | Failure stack traces, device model, Android version, and app version | Firebase Crashlytics (Google) |
| Usage metrics | Screens visited and basic navigation events, with no bill amounts, receipt content, or diner identity | Firebase Analytics (Google) |
| Ad data | Advertising identifiers and interaction data used to show banner ads, based on the consent choice you make | Google AdMob, gated by the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow |
Content you create — bill amounts, tip preferences, and split details — is never sent to crash or usage reports, and is never used to show ads. Those tools only receive technical signals about how the app is behaving.
3.Android automatic backup
Android may automatically back up TipDivide's data (including your bill and tip preferences) to your own Google account, the same way it does for any other installed app — this backup is controlled by you, in your device or Google account settings, not by us. You can disable it at any time in Android Settings → System → Backup.
4.Accounts and cloud sync
TipDivide does not require you to sign in or create an account, and there is currently no cloud sync between devices — your app usage data never leaves your device except as described for crash reports, usage metrics, and ad data above. If accounts or cloud sync are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated to describe them.
5.Data retention
Your app usage data lives only on your device and is removed automatically when you uninstall the app or clear its data. Crash reports and usage metrics are retained only for as long as necessary to diagnose issues and improve the app, following Firebase Crashlytics' and Firebase Analytics' own retention settings, and ad data follows Google AdMob's own retention settings — after which Google automatically deletes them from its systems.
6.International data transfer
Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, and Google AdMob may process and store data on Google servers located outside Brazil, including in the United States. Google is bound by its own data-processing terms and standard contractual clauses covering these transfers. This applies only to the diagnostic and ad data described above — never to your bill amounts or receipt content.
7.Legal basis
We process diagnostic data (crash reports and usage metrics) on the basis of legitimate interest — necessary to identify failures, fix bugs, and maintain the app's quality and stability. Ad data is processed based on the consent you provide through the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow, which you can change at any time in the app.
8.Data sharing
The only third parties involved are Google/Firebase services (Crashlytics and Analytics) and Google AdMob, used exclusively for the purposes described above. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with other advertisers or third parties.
9.Your rights
As a data subject, you can at any time:
- Request access to the diagnostic and ad data associated with your use of the app;
- Request correction of inaccurate diagnostic data;
- Request deletion of that data, or anonymization where deletion is not technically possible;
- Request a portable copy of the diagnostic data we hold about your use of the app;
- Withdraw your consent to ad personalization or object to this processing at any time, without affecting past processing;
- Disable Android's automatic backup at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the e-mail address in the Contact section below. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no cost, as required by applicable data protection law.
10.Children
TipDivide is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from users in that age group.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes to the app or to applicable law. The effective date at the top of this page always shows the most recent version.
